Nick Garcia has cemented himself as a master of capturing the intuitive, sensitive and provocative. He was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, a land of vibrant carnival energy and mysticism and an inspiring nest for countless artists. At a very early age, he began his photography training as an apprentice under one of Colombia’s most prestigious photographers, his father Enrique Garcia. Blessed to grow up in a world of cameras and lenses, Nick gained vast knowledge of film and most importantly a passion for life and its eternal vitality in photos. To further his art he traveled to the United States at age 21 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
Shortly after concluding his studies, Nick decided to call Miami home. He then started working with top photographers to gain a better understanding of the trade, and, of course, to travel the world. His experiences served to develop his photographic vision while nurturing his talent for capturing people and places.
Today Nick continues to evolve as a commercial photographer focused in fashion, lifestyle, editorial work, interior design and architecture.
One of his photography rituals is working with his father during the acclaimed “Carnaval de Barranquilla” to publish the books “Caras y Mascaras” each year. Working side by side with his father is one of his most precious moments and continuously enjoys learning from him.
Over time, Nick developed an unfailing ability to seize the fleeting essence of the moment. His sensitivity to people has positioned him as one of Miami’s top photographers, receiving assignments from national and international tittles such as Billboard Magazine, NewBeauty, The Guardian, BusinessWeek, Women’s Health, GQ, Maxim, Runners World, Celebrated Living and Departures. In Miami he’s one of the most trusted professionals, contributing regularly with special features and covers for tittles like Miami Magazine, Ocean Drive, Indulge, Haute Living, Weddings South Florida, Brickell and Key Biscayne Magazines, Centre, Caras, and TV & Novelas, among others
With a background in architecture and a passion for people and style, Nick has developed a very distinctive signature edge on image composition for environmental portraits. This versatility has gained him the trust of creatives and advertising executives to tell stories that require a mix of portraiture, landscapes and even photojournalism. Recently he worked for Citi in Nigeria, Kenya, Thailand, Brazil and Panama. His elegant approach to lifestyle has also led him to work for hospitality campaigns of brands like The Colonnade Hotel, The Marriot Hotel, The St. Regis Bal Harbour, morning The InterContinental Hotel, The Shelborne Hotel, The Turnberry Isle and The Carillon Hotel.
